Local authors featured at weekly Farmers Market (and Mark Twain BUSTED!)

July 20, 2024 – Smyrna Depot Farmers Market, Smyrna, TN

The Spine Bookshop, owned by Lindsay Schultz, features local authors’ books at her vendor table each week this summer. This location is the old Smyrna Railroad Depot, built in 1851, replaced in 1873. It now serves as an event space.

As a 2nd cousin of Mark Twain, I took along my small statue of him for the table. However, I accidentally knocked it off while setting it up, and it broke up into dozens of pieces! The head was one of them, and (unknown to me at the time) it rolled underneath a nearby table, and wasn’t discovered until later that morning by another local author. Lindsay graciously glued it back onto the shoulder section. The original base of the statue was not repairable, so I’ll find a new base for this bust of the “busted” Mark Twain!

I was her guest this day. Met lots of nice people, sold a few books, and made some new friends!
